Curtis Creek Campground

Curtis Creek Campground is a U.S. Forest Service campground in the Pisgah National Forest near Old Fort, North Carolina. It’s known for its peaceful creekside setting, access to hiking and trout fishing, and a mix of tent and small RV campsites that provide a rustic mountain camping experience.

Highlights

The campground sits at roughly 2,000 feet in elevation along Curtis Creek, surrounded by mature hardwood forest and old-growth areas. A gravel road connects the campground to the Blue Ridge Parkway, making it a convenient base for exploring the surrounding mountains. The area also preserves remnants of a historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp.

There are 24 campsites spread across three loops:

• A loop with accessible sites that can accommodate RVs up to about 35 feet (no hookups).

• A loop with more secluded roadside tent sites.

• A grassy tent-only loop.

Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, tent pad, and lantern post. Amenities are intentionally simple, with vault toilets, drinking water pumps, and bear-resistant trash and recycling containers
